AND HE LEFT A GOOD NAME BEHIND

Jurist ~ Humanitarian ~ Naturalist ~ Community Activist ~ Country Gentleman

Found among son John’s scrapbook is a poem written by Edgar A. Guest entitled Praise from the column JUST FOLKS that Dean had clipped from in the Akron Times Press (cira 1920). The last stanza for each refrain ends: And he left a good name behind. We may surmise that Dean clipped this poem from the newspaper of the day, and that it was preserved in John’s scrapbook, because it spoke to his aspirations. As we reflect in the poem … Dean in fact left a very good name behind; a man loved by his family, the many individuals he assisted and by the Summit County community.
